“I feel the heat.”
What’s the idea behind your poster?
Coming to Singapore from the UK and Italy before that, one of the main adjustments for me has been the heat and climate here and how that has affected my workflow and overall mood. I now have a sense of dread when having to walk for 30 minutes outside and sitting in the fresh air to come up with concepts is something that has become a lot harder for me. Alongside this, there is the double meaning of the phrase, which describes the pressure that I feel trying to break into the industry. I’m left with questions as to how best to end up where I want to be, whether I am making the right decisions and if where I am now will lead to somewhere I want to be. In terms of how I have translated this into a graphic form, I have used type both in English with the sentence repeated throughout the background, as well as the Chinese character for “heat,” representing the place I am now, with Singapore speaking both Chinese and English.
