“I was not allowed to be mechanical.”
What’s the idea behind your poster?
I was going to go for methodical, but I felt mechanical was a better choice of words. I don’t really feel like there was something “I was not allowed to” do, but when I had just started, I used to be very repetitive in my design process. In school, we were taught to follow the brand guidelines and use design thinking. At Monumento all, I can say if it isn’t working, there’s no reason you can’t change it. Which in a way is either staying ignorant or reluctant to change. But I also felt I changed myself in the process and not only design wise. Not that its a bad thing, but it got blurry for me to see when changing these mechanical aspects were changing some other aspects of myself. I mean, I still arrive at 9, even when I try to be late because I know the office will probably not be open yet, but I still do it; I can’t help it. Some call this growing I suppose. But this is about taking a step back (which they might or might not like).
